- Nylon collar and leash: Start with a small collar and move up as the puppy grows. Use a four- to six-foot leash. Avoid slip-on leashes until at least 18 months of age because they can injure a young puppy’s neck.
- Food and water bowls
- Crate: Even when it is not part of the everyday routine, crate familiarity is important for emergencies and safe transportation.
